November 2018 Monthly Meeting – Soil and Human Impacts

November 2018 Monthly Meeting – Soil and Human Impacts

Soil and Human Impacts:

Soils are an important, yet largely overlooked, part of our everyday lives. It is a medium for food production and engineering feats, and is the foundation for many other goods and services that we base our economy on, but is impacted greatly by this human use and general soil mismanagement. This session will provide a description of basic soil processes, how humans are impacting these processes, and possible solutions for remediating soil degradation. I will focus on research being completed at KU Edwards Campus, for which, our students are working with local industry members looking at options for carbon sequestration, soil remediation, and restoration of soil biota communities.
