If you know Downtown Overland Park, then you probably know all about our 3rd Friday Local Life events. This July, we're throwing an extra special party for our new neighbors at Avenue 80, The Vue, Interurban Lofts, and Market Lofts. Our July Block Party will take over the whole of Santa Fe between 79th and 80th street. Whether it's the live bands and cash-prize corn hole tournament or the performing artists and beer gardens, you'll have plenty to do! Rachel will be in the kitchen decorating cookies with a Sunflowers theme! Stop by to try them - there may even be some here for sale! - and learn tips & techniques for cookie decorating. Snap a pic of Rachel's Royal Icing recipe and try it at home! No need to register - just stop by between 9 a.m. and Noon.
 

Meet Vegetable Butcher™

Chef Jill will be happy to clean and cut your market produce... and entertain you at the same time. And it's FREE!! Heck, she may even have a few knife skills to teach you and recipes for you to try with your market treasures. (Ok, she will for sure.) Bring your market produce purchases and get them cut by our Vegetable Butcher!


Knife Sharpening
The Edge Doctor™ will be on duty in our Kitchen Shop! Bring your knives to be sharpened. We’ll do it on the spot, if possible – or drop them off, if you like. We can sharpen your Standard Knives (also called American or Western – e.g. chef, paring & boning knives) as well as your Contemporary Asian Knives (e.g., Santoku) for $3 each. Have questions about your knives and knife sharpening? Stop by and talk with The Edge Doctor.

This day-long seminar will cover the basics of starting a small business, including determining whether your idea is feasible, creating a business plan, choosing a legal entity, forming financial projections, marketing, developing a web presence, and bookkeeping. Guest presenters will include an attorney, a commercial banker, and an accountant. Entrepreneurs will share their stories during a panel discussion with an opportunity for questions.  This active learning module includes hands-on computer lab time. Box lunch is provided.

Foulston HR Training Series

Pay-Data Collection and Government Contractor Update

We will review the latest guidance from the EEOC for complying with the EEO-1 pay-data reporting requirements, which apply to all employers with 100 employees and all government contractors with 50 employees and $50,000 in government contracts. We will also survey recent OFCCP developments for government contractors.

COST:  $60 (includes lunch)  

CERTIFICATION: Each HR Training Session in the series will be submitted to the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) for review. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HRCI homepage at www.hrci.org and the SHRM Certification online portal at www.shrmcertification.org.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: A full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be issued for cancellations up to five business days before event. No-shows and cancellations received fewer than five business days prior to the seminar are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions may be made at any time, including the day of the seminar.

Kick off your summer fun with the Heartland Soccer Association's 5K Run/Walk! This event promises to be a great morning of fun so bring the entire family to run, walk, push a stroller to be a part of this exciting day while we give back to our youth.
